Where do I get the app?

SafePaws is live on Android: get it on Google Play. It's free to download. iPhone is still to come; email us with the subject "iOS" and we'll let you know when it lands.

Common questions

Does it work at night or in the rain? Yes. The answer comes from your local forecast, so it works in any conditions. SafePaws 2.0 no longer uses the camera at all. The old Ground Check viewfinder only ever showed the same weather-based estimate, so it went.

Does SafePaws drain my battery? Only a recorded walk uses your location continuously, and that stops the moment you end the walk. The map and the daily check use standard location services, comparable to any maps app.

How do I cancel Premium? Premium is $6.99/month or $49.99/year after a 7-day free trial. It is billed through Google Play, so you can cancel anytime under Subscriptions in the Play Store app, or from the Subscription row in your dog's profile tab. You keep Premium until the end of the period you paid for.

How accurate are ground temperatures? They are estimates derived from live air temperature, sun, UV and wind through published rules of thumb, then judged against your own animal's thresholds. Nothing on your phone measures a surface, so they're a planning tool, not a laboratory reading. When in doubt, use the 7-second back-of-hand test.

Does it cover cold weather too? Yes. The screen turns blue and the answer changes when the ground is freezing rather than burning: frozen paths, ice and de-icing salt all damage pads, and a small, thin-coated or elderly animal loses body heat far faster than you do. One thing it can't do is see ice: a weather forecast cannot tell whether there is a patch on your street, and the app says so rather than pretending otherwise. Look at the ground before you step onto it.

How do I delete my data? Your pet profile, walks, and hazard reports are all stored on your device, so deleting the app removes them. You can also delete an individual walk in Walk History. Details in our privacy policy.
